The Kindergarten year is a time for transition to the school setting, learning academic and social skills, and fun. Now that all schools in the Rochester School District will have All Day Kindergarten, the district expects high academic results. One of the methods aimed at achieving this is through purposeful play. Through purposeful play, students will have the ability to be creative, communicate with their peers, and learn by having hands-on experiences. In order to provide these experiences, we need more materials in the classroom to provide these important foundational learning skills. The materials purchased through this grant will be rotated amongst all Bamber Valley Kindergarten classrooms and used beyond the 2014-2015 school year. The purpose of these materials is to strengthen each student’s imagination, cooperative skills, academic strengths, and confidence.
